Some of my favorite literature "classics"

Writer: Jennifer PeerJennifer Peer

I am a huge fan of the classics although in my mind classic does not mean necessarily mean old. My list is by no means all inclusive and I have not listed anything by Shakespeare but he would be included on any list of favorites. I love the bard.

Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys (1966)

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky (1866)

Persuasion by Jane Austen (1818)

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf (1927)

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (1823)

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell (1949)

Beloved by Toni Morrison (1987)

Dracula by Bram Stoker (1897)

The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton (1920)

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (1862)

The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1880)

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (1911)

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy (1878)

My Ántonia by Willa Cather (1918)

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood (1985)

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert (1856)

Howards End by E.M. Forster (1910)

The Awakening by Kate Chopin (1899)
